Your ski hotel in the Austrian mountains
Since the inception of Alpine ski sport, Zell am See has been the meeting point for snow enthusiasts from across the globe. The Schmittenhöhe ski area is just a few metres away from the ski hotel, the Lebzelter, and inspires with its family-friendly pistes in the cold seasons. With the Zell am See Kaprun and Kitzsteinhorn glacier ski areas, an early start to the winter season is guaranteed. What’s more, you get to enjoy countless hours of sunshine during extended skiing sessions in the spring. In total in Zell am See in the winter there are some 138 kilometres of the finest pistes for you to magic up some turns in the snow.
As well as fun in the Zell am See Kaprun ski area you get to experience non-stop fun on the extensive slope network, practicing your skating and classic technique, or you can explore the area around Zell am See in winter while out on hikes.

Snowshoe hike with 360-degree panoramic views and a work of art at the summit
Every Wednesday, our mountain guide accompanies you on a snowshoe hike from the summit of the Schmittenhöhe via the high-altitude promenade to the Sonnkogel.
The winter hiking trail offers impressive views of the snow-covered mountains and Lake Zell. The destination of the hike is the Schrambachkopf, where the artwork ‘Opfertisch or a Halleluja’ is located.
Afterwards, we descend together to the Sonnkogel Restaurant and the Sonnkogelbahn.
We recommend sturdy footwear and warm winter clothing for the hike. Snowshoes and poles can be hired on site for a small fee.
